Tato progresivn\u00ed a nejproduktivn\u011bj\u0161\u00ed metoda spo\u010d\u00edv\u00e1 v mno\u017een\u00ed rostlin i z nepatrn\u00fdch \u010d\u00e1st\u00ed merist\u00e9mov\u00fdch pletiv, d\u00edky totipotenci rostlinn\u00fdch bu\u0148ek. Jako \u017eivn\u00fd roztok se pou\u017e\u00edv\u00e1 nej\u010dast\u011bji agar v kombinaci s dextr\u00f3zou a dal\u0161\u00edmi \u017eivinami. Ale existuje i \u0159ada jin\u00fdch speci\u00e1ln\u00edch roztok\u016f. Autorem metody je profesor Steward, kter\u00fd provedl pokus s bu\u0148kami mrkve v n\u00e1dobce s \u017eivn\u00fdm roztokem ji\u017e v roce 1971. V za\u0159\u00edzen\u00ed, kde se pokusn\u00e1 n\u00e1dobka neust\u00e1le ot\u00e1\u010dela, se mu poda\u0159ilo b\u011bhem 3 t\u00fddn\u016f po\u010det bun\u011bk rozmno\u017eit na osmin\u00e1sobek. N\u00e1sledn\u011b se vytvo\u0159ily i ko\u0159\u00ednky a po vysazen\u00ed se poda\u0159ilo vyp\u011bstovat celou mrkev. V\u00fdsledek tohoto pokusu se stal startem nov\u00e9 biotechnologick\u00e9 metody zasahuj\u00edc\u00ed do mnoha sf\u00e9r p\u011bstitelstv\u00ed a mno\u017een\u00ed rostlin. P\u0159\u00edkladem \u00fasp\u011b\u0161n\u00e9ho p\u011bstov\u00e1n\u00ed v Microboxu m\u016f\u017ee b\u00fdt nap\u0159. mno\u017een\u00ed Arabidopsis thaliana (\u010desky Husen\u00ed\u010dek roln\u00ed nebo i Chudina roln\u00ed), co\u017e je drobn\u00e1 dvoud\u011blo\u017en\u00e1 efermn\u00ed pleveln\u00e1 rostlina z \u010deledi brukvovit\u00fdch, kter\u00e1 se pou\u017e\u00edv\u00e1 jako modelov\u00fd organismus v molekul\u00e1rn\u00ed genetice rostlin. V\u00fdrobci Microboxu prov\u00e1d\u011bli i testovac\u00ed experimenty v podm\u00ednk\u00e1ch, kdy byly Microboxy um\u00edst\u011bny v prost\u0159ed\u00ed, kter\u00e9 bylo siln\u011b kontaminovan\u00e9 rozto\u010di a spory Aspergillus. Aspergillus je agresivn\u00ed pl\u00edse\u0148 tvo\u0159\u00edc\u00ed v kultu\u0159e obvykle \u010dern\u00e9, hn\u011bd\u00e9, \u017elut\u00e9 a\u017e b\u00edl\u00e9 kolonie (z\u00e1le\u017e\u00ed na druhu a podm\u00ednk\u00e1ch). N\u011bkter\u00e9 druhy rodu Aspergillus zp\u016fsobuj\u00ed houbov\u00e9 infek\u010dn\u00ed onemocn\u011bn\u00ed, tzv. aspergil\u00f3zu. Jednou skupinou nemoc\u00ed zp\u016fsoben\u00fdch t\u00edmto rodem jsou alergick\u00e9 reakce, zasahuj\u00edc\u00ed p\u0159edev\u0161\u00edm nosn\u00ed dutiny a ni\u017e\u0161\u00ed d\u00fdchac\u00ed cesty. Aspergillus dokonce n\u011bkdy kolonizuje i povrch poko\u017eky. Testovac\u00ed rostlinkou pak byla Anthurium andreanum kultivar Mylene (\u010desky - druh Anturie) o kter\u00e9 je zn\u00e1mo, \u017ee je velmi citliv\u00e1 na ethylen, kter\u00fd vedle kysl\u00edku vylu\u010duje v r\u016fzn\u00e9m objemu \u0159ada rostlin. V\u00fdsledky jsou patrny n\u00ed\u017ee. Koncentrace oxidu uhli\u010dit\u00e9ho vzrostla nad 0,6% ve v\u0161ech Microboxech, co\u017e se pova\u017euje za nanejv\u00fd\u0161 prosp\u011b\u0161n\u00e9 pro podobnou druhovou rostlinnou produkci. Koncentrace ethylenu v Microboxech byla ni\u017e\u0161\u00ed ne\u017e detek\u010dn\u00ed limit 0,0625 ng\/ml v plynn\u00e9 f\u00e1zi, bez viditeln\u00e9ho vlivu na rostlinky. Ve srovn\u00e1vac\u00ed s\u00e9rii v \u00fapln\u011b uzav\u0159en\u00fdch n\u00e1dob\u00e1ch, dosahovala koncentrace ethylenu velmi vysok\u00fdch 1,5 ng\/ml, co\u017e je t\u00e9m\u011b\u0159 25x v\u00edce.
